Gangtok: Indian football team skipper Sunil Chhetri will attend the National Football Awards, organised by Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI) and hosted by Football Players’ Association of Sikkim (FPAS), here at Paljor Stadium on July 21.
Members of the FPAS have geared up for the event as it is a golden opportunity for the players as well as the football lovers to witness some present and former starts like Sunil Chhetri, Bhaichung Bhutia, Rennedy Singh, Sandesh Jhingan and many others display their skills that day during a friendly match with FPAS, informed Nirmal Chettri, former international player and president of FPAS.
On Wednesday evening, state chief minister PS Golay released the poster of National Football Awards 2019 at his office, Tashiling secretariat. Golay is likely to present on the occasion as guest of honour.
Nirmal Chettri further expressed his gratitude to the Governor Ganga Prasad, CM and sports department for their support for the event which has boosted their morale to host such a grand event here.
"So far Sunil Chettri and few prominent players have given their confirmation to attend the function which has made the Sikkimese crowd proud,” added Chettri.
The award function will witness a exhibition match between the players of FPAI and FPAS followed by distribution of awards in the following categories -
Best coach of the year, best foreign player, best Indian player, India emerging player and fans player of the year.
Meanwhile, he has appealed to all football lovers to come and be a part of this event and make it a huge success. Entry for the event will be free of cost.
