Sikkim: Holy Cross School, Tadong shines in CBSE Class X exams 

20 students score above 90% marks; school topper Aditi Basnet gets 97% marks, securing her a spot in the state’s high-ranker list

Gangtok: Holy Cross School, located in the 6th Mile area of Tadong in Sikkim, has secured excellent results in the CBSE Class X board exams, the results of which were declared on Monday.

A total of 97 students from the school took the exams, of which 96 managed to clear them. Aditi Basnet, a student of the school, got 97% marks securing her a spot in the toppers’ list. In all, 20 students from the school scored above 90% marks.

Sikkim recorded a pass percentage of 67.92% in the CBSE Class X board exams as per the data available with the state HR department.

Altogether, 9,691 students, including those from government schools, private schools and private candidates in Sikkim, had been listed for the CBSE Class X board exams this year. Among them, 6,582 students cleared the exams making it is a success rate of 67.92% for Sikkim.

In 2018, the pass percentage for CBSE Class X board exams in the state was 62.14%. There is an increase of 5.77% in pass percentage as compared to last year, said the HR department.

A total of 186 students could not clear the board exams. The failure percentage for Sikkim this year is 1.92%, a drop of 2.71% as compared to previous year’s result.

A total of 2,732 students got compartment results while 188 students remained absent for the exams.

Additional HRD chief secretary GP Upadhyaya said that the students from Sikkim have performed well in the board exams and the pass percentage has improved as compared to 2018 results. “The efforts put in by the government to improve the education sector has brought good results and we aim to do better in coming years too,” he added.

Upadhyaya informed that all the students studying within and outside the state under the Chief Minister Meritorious Scholarship Scheme have cleared their board exams.
