Gangtok: Former Sikkim chief secretary Sonam Wangdi released his second book titled, Pawan Kumar Rai Chamling: The Greatest Fraud in History. The book, a compilation of writings by various statesmen of Sikkim, was released by former MP Pahalman Subba at Press Club of Sikkim on Wednesday.
Addressing media persons, Wangdi said, “This book is not mine but the works of different authors and it is a compilation of some noteworthy statements against Chamling. It also includes Sikkim’s organic fraud wherein the CM lied to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that lie has been catapulted by the PM across the world. If Sikkim is really a ‘Sukhi Stan’ why does our state have the highest suicide rate?”
A National Crime Records Bureau study reported that the ‘golden state’ of Sikkim witnessed 241 suicides in 2015 — the highest among all the states of the country.
Wangdi highlighted that the main reason for writing the book was BJP’s MP candidate Lhaten Sherpa, who has raised several issues over the course of the last three-four years. “Sherpa brought many issues across the state into the foray which had failed over the last 25 years.” He said that it gave him a different idea about CM Chamling and how the Sikkimese society is getting spoilt under him.
The author admitted that there are many mistakes in the book, and assured of coming out with a smaller version of the book.
The book was earlier slated for release on March 4 on the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front’s (SDF) foundation day, but couldn’t happen due to some unavoidable circumstances. Moreover, the book doesn’t feature any acknowledgement, as Wangdi claims that the authors would be threatened.
The author, whose first book titled ‘Destruction of Sikkim’ was released in 2015, claimed that he will not release the book at various shops fearing harassment the shop owners will face.
