NorthEast United FC will look for their first win of the season as they lock horns with Chennaiyin FC in an Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Monday. The match will start at 7:30 PM IST. It will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network, Hotstar and Jio TV.

NEUFC have started their campaign in a not-so-great fashion, with a disappointing 2-4 loss against Bengaluru FC and a goalless draw against Kerala Blasters. Hence, they will be all the more eager for a win against a spirited Chennaiyin FC who have won their inaugural game and will look to carry the momentum.

However, Rafael Crivellaro’s absence due to injury will be a cause of concern for the Marina Machans and a lot will be expected of Vladimir Koman. For the Highlanders, Federico Gallego’s availability will be a big plus and he will look to create an impact immediately. With 6 wins and 3 losses, NEUFC have a better record against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League.

NEUFC knows that they have a tough challenge ahead but are confident of putting up a good show. Ahead of the match, assistant coach Alison Kharsyntiew said, “Chennaiyin is a very good team. They are tactically very disciplined. So, we have to keep the ball well and create chances. If we want to win the game, we have to create more chances. It will be a tough match for us but I am sure that the players are ready and will give their 100%.”

Analysing their last game against Kerala Blasters, Kharsyntiew said, “In the last game, we are satisfied with one point. But this one point will give us the drive and motivation to go forward. First of all, we did not concede a goal which is a very positive thing. We are looking forward to the Chennaiyin game.”
