Imphal: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday visited Manipur’s Chandel district to review the programmes and projects being taken up under the NITI Aayog ‘aspirational districts’ programme.
During his visit, the Union minister had a review meeting with different district-level officers at the district Head Quarter, DC complex.
During the interaction meeting, Sonowal said that Chandel being an ‘aspirational district’, unlike the other districts, needs the administration and all the stakeholders to promote the district by taking up extra and special initiatives. He also said that motivational attitudes need to be incorporated into the actions of all the stakeholders of the district.

He suggested that a dedicated team be set up to monitor the different development parameters in the district.
Earlier on his way to the district headquarters, the union minister inspected a primary health centre (PHC) at Komlathabi and interacted with all its doctors and healthcare workers.
He also enquired about the development works taken up under the central and state government-sponsored schemes.

During the meeting, district deputy commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar spoke about all the development works being taken up under the ‘aspirational district’ programme in the district through a powerpoint presentation.
