Arunachal: Woman in APSTC bus arrested with suspected heroin

Khonsa: The Tirap police on Thursday recovered 16.7 grams of suspected heroin from a woman travelling in an Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSTC) bus.

The police had received intelligence input on the suspected contraband item being transported in an APSTC bus from Assam to Khonsa through Changlang, officials said.

Accordingly, a team led by sub-inspector W Pokna set up a mobile check post at the Veterinary Line area on C K road.

The bus was intercepted and a 36-year-old woman, identified as Toshe Lowang, was apprehended after she was served a notice on the spot under Section 50 of the NDPS Act.

The team seized the suspected heroin in two plastic containers, a mobile phone and Aadhaar card from her possession.

A case under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered against the woman and further investigation is on, officials added.
