Indian Embassy evacuated stranded students

Due to the ongoing war, the first batch of Indian medical students who were stranded in Ukraine has left Chernivtsi for the Ukraine-Romania border on Saturday. The students from there will be returning to their homes.

The first flight to Mumbai carrying 219 Indian nationals took off from Romania.

Nearly hundreds of stranded Indian students have been safely evacuated from war-zone Ukraine by the Indian embassy amid Russian invasion efforts in the country.

However, the palpable relief clearly showed on the faces of the students, all girls, as they prepared to board their plane back home.

As per reports, the students were evacuated to Romania amid high security in a bus with an Indian flag outside the vehicle and a banner reading Indian students.

With Russian troops advancing on Kyiv and other major cities of Ukraine, Indian Embassy has successfully evacuated several stranded students from the war-torn country and safely brought them to the Romanian capital Bucharest.

Taking to officials, a student after she was evacuated from Ukraine said that Indian Embassy has been remained in constant touch and assisted them with all immigration and official work.

Amid full security, food and water were also provided, she said.

The stranded students have been brought to the Romanian capital Bucharest from where an Air India flight will get them back to India. 

An Air India plane landed in the Romanian capital Bucharest on Saturday morning to evacuate Indians stranded in Ukraine.

Taking to Twitter, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar announced that Indian Nationals in Ukraine are making progress.

Concerned about the stranded students, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar about the safety of Indian students in Ukraine.
While speaking to the External ministry, he was informed that the ministry is closely working with the Indian Embassy for expeditious evacuation of students and residents including those from Assam.


As per reports, nearly 100 students from Assam were part of the group of stranded students in Ukraine.
