Aizawl: Mizoram reported 84 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, 181 less than the previous day, taking the state’s tally to 1,41,749, a health department official said.

The state reported 265 COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

The single-day positivity rate dipped to 16.47 per cent  from 19.62 per cent the previous day, the official said.

The death toll rose to 546 as two more persons have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, he said.

Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 35, followed by Serchhip district (22) and  Mamit (14), he said.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,715, while 102 people have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 1,39,488, he said.

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 98.40 per cent and the death rate is 0.38 per cent.

The state has so far tested 1,50,8,818 samples for COVID-19, of which 510 samples were tested on Saturday.

Over 7.30 lakh people have been inoculated and 5.89 lakh of them have received full dose so far, state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said.
