Agartala: Ahead of the November 25 voting for the urban local bodies, electronic voting machines (EVMs) were checked at Vivekananda Auditorium of Umakanta Academy, Agartala, on Wednesday.
Officials from the election department as well as representatives of each political party were present while the EVMs were examined and sorted.
The machines were then sealed in the presence of representatives of government and political parties. The next step is sending the required number of EVMs to the respective polling stations.
There, in the presence of government officials as well as representatives of political parties, the machines are opened and re-checked to see if they are working properly.
Asim Saha, Sadar sub-divisional magistrate and returning officer of Agartala Municipal Corporation election, told the media that the EVMs were checked in the presence of representatives of political parties.
“After commissioning the machines, the EVMs are set according to the candidates of the polling stations and, accordingly, the machines would be sent to the respective polling booth before the vote day,” Saha said.
