Poll pundits had said that Tuirial by-poll was one of the hottest contests in assembly by-polls in the political history of the state.
The by-poll to Tuirial seat was necessitated due to the death of its incumbent MLA Andrew H. Thangliana, who was allied with ZPM, in August.
After winning the Tuirial seat, the MNF tally in the present 40-member assembly has gone up to 28, While Congress has 5 members, ZPM and BJP have 1 member each.
There are 5 independent MLAs, who are allied with the ZPM.
