Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay, on October 27, announced that Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Sikkim on November 20.

His duration of stay has not been decided, however.

Addressing the occasion on the inauguration of Indoor Sports Arena in Gangtok, Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay said, “The Home Minister is coming to Sikkim on grounds of Cooperative Societies events, to promote them. Him being the concerned minister for cooperative ministry, he is focussing on the development of cooperative societies. We have done our end of work with Sikkim Milk Union and Dairy Farming, the farmer producers organizations (FPO), the vegetables being brought in, the incentives being given to them.”

Furthermore, the Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Sikkim State University, which will now be known as Kanchenjunga Sikkim State University in Temi Namphing, South Sikkim. The move comes after the cancellation of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu last week.
