In a shocking incident, five youths thrashed a man in uniform in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The incident took place near Dihingia Chariali of Tinsukia Bypass Road on Monday afternoon.

According to initial reports, Mayur Ranjan Das, a constable of the 2nd Battalion of Assam Police in Panitola Police Station, was attacked by five men after he asked them to wear masks while on his way home.

Police have arrested three youths in connection with the incident, while two others are still absconding. Those nabbed have been identified as Kiron Gohain, Kaushik Gohain and Bhabesh Gohain.

“We have arrested three of them so far. We will analyse the video, those absconding will either have to surrender, or we will find them. They will be arrested for sure,” said a police official.
