Agartala: Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) chairman Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman is hopeful that the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) will win the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election.
Addressing an election rally, Deb Barman called on all regional political parties to come under one umbrella and unite the tribes at an election rally in Tulasikhar on Wednesday.
“I respect Narendra Chandra Deb Barma-the chief of IPFT-and Mevar Kumar Jamatia. I want their support,” Deb Barman said.
He said that it would not be right to compromise on the welfare of the tribes.
Incidentally, the IPFT had colluded with TIPRA a few days back for the ADC elections. However, days later, the IPFT joined hands with the BJP in the ADC elections. Pradyot has given the bait to bring IPFT back in the public meeting on Wednesday.
“Only Janajati (indigenous) people will think of our welfare. Thus, all regional parties need to be united,” he said.
“The fascination of money and power is trying to create division among the tribes and it has largely succeeded in splitting. But, in the end, it is the loss of the tribes, it must be understood,” Deb Barman added.

“I am not ready to compromise on the question of development of the tribes. Therefore, the IPFT should unite with us and fight the elections. We have to fight for a better future for our people. It is very important for everyone to be united,” Deb Barman added.
