A huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition was recovered by Assam Police in an effort to cleanse the state of unlawful weapons. During the search operation carried out by Assam Police assisted by SDPO, Bijni, CI, Panbari, O/C Panbari PS and 156 Bn CRPF inside Manas National Park, the police team successfully recovered one M20 Pistol, two AK series rifles, 7.62 mm live ammunition and two AK magazines.

Singh said the team started the search at 2 am in the morning and the weapons were recovered early morning in an isolated forest 500m away from Amlaiguri village. No one was arrested as the weapons were buried deep inside the forest.
