Sonakshi Sinha is now the latest celebrity to have voiced out her views on the ongoing Farmers Protests. But unlike every other celebrity saying the same thing, this actor shared screenshots of StorysellersComics’ post to explain why the international community is paying heed to what is happening at the protest sites.
Sinha shared screengrabs of the post on her Instagram story which begins with, “Before you have the misfortune of hearing Arnab condemn Rihanna, Greta or other ‘outsiders’ for commenting on India’s internal issues tonight, Here’s something you should know.”
The post states that the voices by the so-called “outsiders” were raised against violation of human rights, suppression of free internet and expression, state propaganda, hate speech, and abuse of power.
“To re-iterate, news tonight will try to paint a picture that ‘outside forces’ are trying to meddle in the functioning of our country. Please don’t give into that narrative. It’s human standing up for other humans. THAT’s the narrative,” added the post.
On Tuesday, Rihanna’s tweet on the protests rattled the entire nation including the Government of India. Such was the repercussion of the tweet that even the Ministry of External Affairs had to issue a statement asking international celebrities to stop making such comments without knowing the issue.
Soon after this, many B-town celebs and cricketers alike took to Twitter expressing their concerns on “outsider” interference in a national issue. Sinha however took a stance that was far removed from what many others took and talk about why the Rihanna controversy needs to be seen from a different perspective as well.
