Itanagar: Union Science and Technology minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has assured to visit Arunachal Pradesh and inaugurate the Centre of Excellence for Bio Resources and Sustainable Development Centre at Kimin near here soon.
The assurance came when a delegation from the state comprising of Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao and Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology (APSCS&T) chairman Bamang Mangha called on the minister at the national capital on Thursday.
Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, APSCS&T director C D Mungyak, Science and Technology director H K Dutta and the joint directors of State Remote Sensing Application Centre Bamang Apo and Tana Tage were also present on the occasion.
During the call, matters related to the creation of an earth sciences division under the state’s department of science and technology were discussed at length.
The creation of the division would help the state reap benefits of scientific research activities in the field of mines and minerals.
Creation of geotechnical laboratory, matters related to natural hazards, all-weather stations etc were also discussed during the meeting.
The visiting delegation requested the minister to look into the pending projects and new proposals placed under the department of science and technology and the earth sciences ministry, to which the latter assured to give his personal attention so that they get early sanctions.
The team also expressed their gratitude to the Union minister for giving special emphasis to Arunachal Pradesh for the development of science and technology sectors and helping the state in harnessing its vast natural resources.
Earlier, the APSCS&T chairman briefed the Union minister on the status of various ongoing projects being taken up by the science and technology council in the state.
