BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy Credit: Twitter

Guwahati: The viral tweet by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy comparing petrol prices in India with Nepal and Sri Lanka while invoking characters from Ramayan is not his own, it seems.

An Assam-based social worker Ashma Begum claimed that Swamy “copied” her content.

Over half a day before Swamy’s tweet about fuel price, Begum had put together “mythology and practicality” on Monday evening.

She wrote, “Mythology and practicality,

Patrol In Ram’s (India) #93

patrol In Sita’s (Nepal) #53

Patrol in Ravan’s(Srilanka)#51,

Think & Enjoy #Achydin! #RahulGandhi #ndtv #newz24 #drUditRaj.”

Speaking with EastMojo, Begum said, “I found out that Swamy copied my post when I saw it in news.”

Begum was awarded the National Women Excellence Award in November last year for her social work during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also plans to content in the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections on a Congress ticket.
