Hasina Begum returned home after Aurangabad police filed a 'missing person's' report

After a long and arduous struggle, Hasina Begum, who was jailed in Pakistan for 18 years after losing her passport, has returned home to India on Tuesday.

According to reports, Begum, 65, had gone to Lahore to meet her husband’s relatives when she lost her passport. Thus begun her ordeal of proving her true identity.

The investigation started in her case after Aurangabad police filed a ‘missing person’s’ report, and the matter was then sent to Pakistani authorities, said reports.

When Aurangabad police sent information to Pakistan stating that she had a house in Rashidpura area, registered under the City Chowk Police station in Aurangabad, it lead to the road of her release.

A resident of Aurangabad, she is married to Dilshad Ahmed, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Hasina Begum was released last week and handed over to the Indian authorities.
