Kohima: A civil helipad at Zunheboto was inaugurated on Monday by minister for transport, civil aviation and land resources, P Paiwang Konyak. This is the first civil helipad in the district.
The inauguration took place in the presence of deputy commissioner of Zunheboto district, Peter Lichamo, other heads of departments, public leaders and party workers.
In an interaction with media persons, Konyak said that the ruling government aims to come up with civil helipad in all the districts at the earliest. The civil helipads that are completed so far include the helipads in Wokha, Zunheboto district and Tizit sub-division. Mokokchung district’s helipad is due for inauguration on August 15 this year.
Konyak highlighted the completion of helipads in all internal places in Kohima district and the project of building an exclusive civil heliport at Dimapur. The minister said that although the government is sincere about the development of all aspects, it is also the duty of every citizen to utilize the services judiciously.
Despite the challenges owing to the weather conditions, he informed that chopper services of the state will be of 12 hours of flying, a DIPR report stated. Unlike other states, he said that the government is providing twin-engine choppers, keeping in mind traveller safety.
Regarding the government’s passenger transport vehicles in the state, the minister informed that it is in talks with the union ministry regarding the improvement of NST buses services in the state.
Konyak will be unfurling the National flag and taking the Rashtriya Salute on Republic day celebration on Tuesday.
