A couple in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district allegedly murdered their two daughters to death with dumbbells, believing they have supernatural powers to bring back the dead.
The parents, identified as V Padmaja and V Purushotham Naidu, are resident of Madanapalle town. They believed that they had special powers that would help them revive their dead daughters, police said.
According to reports, police were alerted by some colony residents after hearing a loud scream from the house.
The daughters, Alekhya (27) and Sai Diviya (22) were found in a pool of blood, clad in red clothes. Police said that it seems to be a case of occult practices. Alekhya was a student of the Indian Institute of Forest Management and Divya was a BBA graduate pursuing a career in music, police said, as reported by TheNewsMinute.
The parents, both highly educated, seemed to be delusional when the police entered the house. Padmaja identifies herself as a gold medallist, postgraduate in mathematics, and her husband, Purushotham works as an associate professor of Chemistry in Government Degree College of Madanapalle.
The bodies of the two girls have been sent for post mortem.
