Now, binge-watch your favorite Assamese shows on this new OTT platform

Guwahati: Now binge-watching in Assamese has become far more accessible with the launch of a brand new platform, Reeldrama, on Thursday (January 21).

This Over The Top (OTT) platform boasts of a vast collection of Assamese films, web series, shows, as well as masterclasses on acting and Hindustani classical vocal music.

With its emotional tagline, ‘Celebrate Assam with Reeldrama’, the OTT platform promises to bring to viewers the choicest local content that touches every Assamese heart, in India and abroad.

The launch of the OTT platform was witnessed by a host of dignitaries from the world of the Assamese film fraternity, including Jatin Bora, Prastuti Parashar, Kamal Lochan Das, Preety Kangkana, Kenny Basumatary, Himanshu Prasad Das, Anupam Kaushik Borah, celebrity chef Atul Lahkar, celebrity trainer Mahadev Deka, music composer-cum-producer Ambar Das, to name only a few.

“Reeldrama brings home to you the culture of Assam in all its glory with stories, shows, music, and conversations about the art, history, literature, folklore, and cinema of the land. With its array of thoughtfully curated content and innovative programs, Reeldrama has something for everyone,” said Sumit Dasgupta, Director, Reeldrama.

Speaking to EastMojo about the OTT platform’s future plans, Dasgupta said, “We want to have more content from other Northeastern states in this platform and we are already planning that.”

Even though it’s a Hyderabad-based platform, Dasgupta mentioned that they wanted to create an OTT platform away from the already saturated mainland areas and hence thought Assam to be the best place.

Reeldrama platform’s content-mix includes contemporary movies, old classics, and award-winning movies. It also hosts web series in various genres.

The platform hosts shows from the field of music, comedy, poetry, cookery, and devotion. For young minds, Reeldrama has a dedicated kid’s zone with animated moral stories and grandma tales.

For someone willing to learn the art of filmmaking or Hindustani classical vocal, the platform offers masterclass sessions which is a first-of-its-kind educational series with instructions in the local language. “Several such interesting concepts will be introduced in this section in times to come,” Dasgupta added.
