Meghalaya Cabinet ministers during a meeting on Tuesday

Shillong: Cabinet ministers of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government held a meeting on Tuesday to take stock of preparations for the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 23.

The big topic on the cabinet’s agenda as it seeks an appointment with Shah would be the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya, which was passed by the Meghalaya State Assembly on December 19, 2019, but awaiting a go-ahead from the Center.

Several civil organisations, including the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation and the Jaintia Students’ Union, have sought appointment to meet Shah during his visit to the state. It is understood that the consortium of civil organisations will also have the issue of implementation of ILP and the MRSSA high on their agenda.
