Contraband worth Rs 99,000 seized by NFR on 11 January, 2021

Guwahati: The Railway Police Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 103 minor children and arrested 14 traffickers in 2020.

The RPF successfully also seized contraband goods and narcotics worth over Rs 3.9 crores in 2020, NFR said in a press release.

A total of 23 people were arrested on charges of carrying contraband items in 2020, NFR said.

In the most recent case, RPF train escort party comprising of Head Constable, Rana Dey along with two constables recovered 2 abandoned bags containing Marijuana weighing about 16.5 kgs and worth Rs 99,000/- (approx) from the Special Rajdhani Express (Agartala-New Delhi) on 11 January, 2021. The recovered Marijuana was later handed over to appropriate authorities and a case was registered in this regard.

56 cases of theft of Railway property were also detected by the RPF along with the recovery of more than Rs 5.9 lakhs worth of property and the arrest of 125 people in 2020.
