Aizawl: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released names of the first phase of party candidates for the upcoming Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) polls.
Names of eight candidates were released during the inauguration of the party office in Aizawl.
State BJP president Vanlalhmuaka said his party would contest all the 19 seats in AMC.
Names of 10 more candidates will soon be announced, he said.
Vanlalhmuaka said that the BJP stands for people’s development and relied on the motto “Sab ka Saath sab ka Vikas” (together for everyone’s growth).
“The BJP will work for the development of everyone and the state,” he said.
Hitting out at the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) and Congress, the BJP leader said the two parties ruled the state for more than 35 years, but nothing big was achieved during their regimes.
