Bollywood fashion designer Saisha Shinde has come out as a trans woman. Formerly known as Swapnil Shinde, she is known for styling actors like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Taapsee Pannu among several others.
On Tuesday, Shinde took to Instagram and announced about her identity as Saisha Shinde. She also shared a few glimpse of her new appearance along with the meaning of her name.
Shinde wrote, “Here we go 2021
P.s : Saisha means a meaningful life and I plan to make mine an exceptionally meaningful one.”
Shinde said it was only in her early 20’s at NIFT where she found the courage to accept her truth. Shinde spent few years believing that she was attracted to men because she was gay, but it was only 6 years ago that she finally accepted herself and today she has come out saying that she is a transwoman and not a gay man.
For her unconventional work, Shinde has been called as the Britney Spears of the fashion industry.
Moments after her post, messages started pouring in from celebrities and well-wishers.
