Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Assam down town University, Guwahati, organized a “Cake Mixing Ceremony” on Saturday December 19, 2020.
The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. N.C. Talukdar in the valuable presence of Dean of Studies Prof. Bandana Dutta, Academic Chairperson Prof. S. Goswami and Trustee Members. The occasion was graced by Additional Registrar (Administration) Ashim Barman, the Deans of different Faculties and Department Heads.
Seema Sharma, Dean Faculty of Commerce & Management and Bhola Chourasia, Head of Department DHTM, along with faculty members Santosh Kumar Upadhyay and Banani Saikia welcomed the distinguished guests. Cake preparation and decoration of the event was managed by Mridu Pawan Rabha, Ritwick Goswami and Jyotirmay Choudhury.
Spreading the cheer along with the budding chefs, all dignitaries, faculties & students were invited to roll up their sleeves and put their hands in the mixing pots to make a delicious Christmas cake.
An interesting array of fruits including raisins, glazed red cherries orange peel, tutti-frutti, dried apricots prunes and walnuts, cashew, almond flakes and pistachio, besides spices such as ground cardamom, cinnamon and cloves were all added into the cake mixture.
The mixing reached spirited heights when endless bottles of liquor such as whisky, white and dark rum, vodka, gin, wine, beer, and syrups like golden syrup, molasses, honey and vanilla essence were poured into it. The mixture was then put into airtight bags and left to mature until Christmas when it will be taken out and baked with love.
The contributions of all BHMCT & BTM students are appreciable for the success of the event. Colorful balloons all over the event venue and a sparkling Christmas tree with many gifts under it added to the spirit of the celebration. Amidst all the fun and frolic, COVID-19 protocol was strictly followed by the hosts and participating guests using gloves, face shields and sanitizers in the cake mixing ceremony.
