Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and its youth wing Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS), along with Nari Mukti Sangram Samiti, Ahom Gana Mansha, Sah Sramik Mukti Sangram Samiti etc. are all set to start statewide movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act from December 24.

Rudra Bhuyan, a senior member of CMSS, told EastMojo that statewide awareness and protest against the CAA would start from December 24. “A total of 70 organisations will participate in the protest,” he added. Bhuyan also said that this time, their protests would mainly focus on the rural areas of Assam, adding that the protest will also bring the release of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi in focus.

Eastmojo also talked with the General Secretary of Moran Chatra Santha Munin Dwarah, who said that they are going to start the Anti-CAA protest from January. “People of Moran are not going to accept CAA in any way,” said the GS.

The 70 organisations taking part in the anti-CAA, including the KMSS, CMSS, Nari Mukti Sangram Samiti, Ahom Gana Mansha, Sah Sramik Mukti Sangram Samiti, Axom premi Juwa Chatra Samaj, Sadou Moran Chatra santha etc.

Although All Assam Student Union (AASU) was not mentioned in the list of 70 organisations, even they are planning their protests. EastMojo spoke with a senior member from AASU, who under conditions of anonymity said “all organisations will continue their awareness protest following COVID-19 protocols in different parts of Assam. Due to COVID-19, protests were stopped in between, but now as the situation is under control we will start our protests by January.”
