Voting lines for the Northeast Young Heroes Awards are now open. We have compiled a list of five sportspersons who have made Northeast proud with their achievements. To vote, click on the link below:

1. Kekhriesilie Rio, Nagaland

Kekhriesilie has been involved in the equestrian sport for more than 7-8 years. In these span, he has competed in the regional and national level and won several laurels.

2. Jeje Mizo, Mizoram

Jeje Lalpekhlua is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a central forward for the India national football team and SC East Bengal in the Indian Super League. He is the second-highest Indian goalscorer in the Indian Super League since its inception, and he is the record highest goalscorer for Chennaiyin FC In 2015, he won the I-league with Mohun Bagan and the Indian Super League with Chennaiyin and was subsequently named the FPAI Football Player of the Year.

3. Bala Devi, Manipur

Bala Devi is an Indian women’s footballer who plays as a forward for Scottish Women’s Premier League club Rangers and India women’s national football team.

4. Jonathan Rongsen, Nagaland

Nagaland’s captain Jonathan Rongsen became the first Naga cricketer to score a century in first class cricket.The 32 year old Jonathan made his first class debut for Railways in 2013-14 Ranji Trophy on December 6, 2013. He was transferred from Railways to Nagaland team for Ranji Trophy 2018-19.

5. Sarjubala Devi, Manipur

Sarjubala Devi is an Indian woman boxer from Manipur and represented India at the 2016 Rio Olympics. After being awarded as the Best Boxer at Youth World Women Boxing Championship organised at Turkey, the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) announced support for Sarjubala Devi in 2012. She is referred to as the next Mary Kom. She used to be part of the 48 kg category but recently changed it to 51 kg category. After the change she claimed a Gold Medal at the National Women’s Boxing Championship 2018 (Fly category). She also won the Best Boxer award at the 7th Youth Women National Championship in Patiala and in the 14th Senior Women Boxing Competition.
