Imphal: In a major operation, a combined team of Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized huge cache of smuggled items, including drugs and weapon, in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

As per reports, the security forces carried out the raid at two separate locations in the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh and recovered the smuggled items on Monday.

At least six smugglers, including two Myanmar nationals, were arrested in connection with the drug smuggling case, it said.

Besides the huge cache of narcotics, one foreign-made pistol along with ammunitions was also recovered during the operations.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have handed over to the Moreh Police Station for further investigation, said the report.

In another operation, troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur police arrested one persons identified as Wanglun Bachelor Anal, 38, from Chandel district during frisking and checking in the Khongjol area.

Upon thorough checking the intercepted motorbike, the security forces recovered 109 soap cases suspected to be containing 10 gram Brown Sugar in each soap case. The total weight of the recovered items is 1.09 kg, it said.

As per reports, the arrested individual has been handed over to Chandel Police Station.
