Tripura: Total lockdown on weekends, partial curfew on weekdays

Agartala: Opposition parties including the Communist Part of India Marxist (CPIM), Congress and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have come out in support of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Tuesday called by the farmers unions.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, Pijush Kanti Biswas said, “The attack on farmers means attack on economy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-government is destroying the whole country. He has been giving false promises to the people. The Congress in Tripura will support the Bharat bandh in solidarity with the farmers’ protest against the farm bills and I urge everyone to support the bandh”.

The farmers have been protesting against the three farm bill since November 26 last. Talks between the farmer leaders and union ministers have failed to produce any breakthrough so far. Another level of talks is scheduled for November 9 next.

Political parties including, Congress, Trinamool, Left and various other political parties have expressed their support to the bandh called on Tuesday. The Left Front and the Congress have already come out in favor of a ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Tripura. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP will hold processions in different parts of Tripura from this afternoon to oppose the ban.
