Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched matabaritemple.in, an official website for Tripurasundari Temple on Saturday.

The temple in Udaipur is one of the 51 Hindu Shaktipeethas in India and is considered one of the holiest Hindu shrines.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Deb said that the website would provide an opportunity of online darshan of the deity from anywhere in the world and also accept online donations which would be income tax-free.

“The website will attract more devotees and tourists from across the world, and that will help in generating employment opportunities and boost tourism in the state,” Deb said.

He also questioned the previous government and said that the donations made by the devotees faced questions in the past and assured that the new system will ensure transparency in the donation process.

“The donation made by the devotees faced questions in the past. To ensure that transparency is maintained in the whole process, we have launched the official website for the Tripurasundari temple”, Deb added.

Deb who is also the chairman of the Tripuarsundari Temple Trust, further explained the importance of the website and said, that cameras will be given access inside the temple twice and live streaming of the arati and puja will be shown to devotees from 4 am to 5 am in the morning and again at 11:20 am to 1 pm. He also said that presently entry inside the deity’s chamber is allowed only to the priests and VVIP visiting the state.

“All modern facilities would be made to attract more tourists and devotees from across the country. People can also opt to offer prayer online through the website which will stream live visuals. Our experience says that Temples like Tirupati Balaji and Vaishno Devi temple helps in generating employment in all levels starting from local pan shop to a five-star hotel in a state”, Deb opined.

He also said that the tourism department is developing the entire temple premises and a host of other sites in the state with the funding of ministry of tourism under Swadesh Darshan scheme. The project includes installation of an over bridge at Matabari temple, sheds for devotees, ropeway route from Udaipur railway station to Tripurasundari temple among other infrastructure.
