E-commerce value platform 2GUD from Flipkart is launching a 2GUD Local service to bring popular offline stores on the internet. 2GUD Local will enable local stores to expand their digital footprint and the first event was kick-started in Bengaluru on Friday.
According to Flipkart, the new portal will “showcase best of single brand/ multi-brand stores through long-format videos”.
According to a statement issues by the company on Friday, these videos will be shot from the stores by influencers, where they talk about the various plus points of the offline shop. 2GUD Local will collaborate with member stores and provide support with “cataloging, consumer fulfillment, advertising, and marketing,” among other things.
Flipkart aims at growing the geographical impact of the stores through the platform. With the coronavirus pandemic restricting visits to the physical stores, consumers will now be able to look for their required products at popular shops from the safety of their homes. The 2GUD Local portal will also notify when a previously unavailable product becomes available again. The operations of the nationwide venture will begin today from KLM Fashion Mall in Bengaluru.
“We have launched 2GUD Local to help local brands leverage traffic on our already-popular marketplace and take their offerings to a panIndia market. Audience engagement on our platform is very high, and it will allow brands to have more facetime with shoppers,” said Chanakya Gupta, Head of 2GUD, Flipkart.
As per the firm, 2GUD currently covers over 600 product segments and buyers can find both new and refurbished products on the platform. It claims to have more than a million consumers across more than 15,000 PIN codes in India.
