Today is the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak — the Sikh guru and the founder of Sikhism. He was born in Talwindi region in 1469. It is now known as Nankana Sahib and is currently in Pakistan.
Guru Nanak travelled across Asia spreading the message of one God called ‘ik onkar’. The words of the first Sikh guru have been written in the Sikh holy scripture — Guru Granth Sahib. It is believed that all the other Sikh gurus have the spirit of Nanak’s sanctity and divinity.
