With the onset of winters, our skin and hair face the wrath of the chilly winds and dry season.

While spa sessions may seem like the way to deal with the seasonal changes, it burns a hole in your pocket. Instead, opt for these easy and cost-effective homemade hacks to restore your skin’s glow.

1. Coconut oil

A classic grandmother’s suggestion, coconut oil is an elixir for all our body needs. Indulge in hot coconut oil massage sessions and let it soak through your skin. You can either do it an hour to 30 minutes before shower or follow a night-time oiling regime.

2. Avocado

This green veggie is more than a salad ingredient, it is a blessing in disguise. Now it may take some efforts to find, but it is definitely worth the hard work. Scoop some ripe avocado, mix it with honey and apply on your face, knees and elbows. It leaves your skin deeply nourished and supple.

3. Coffee

Apart from taking away your morning blues, coffee is known to be an excellent body scrub. It is quite effective in ridding you of all the flaky dry skin and leaving behind a soft and smooth surface.

4. Cinnamon

This spice is an all-rounder. From making your tea taste heavenly, to working wonders on your skin, cinnamon covers all bases. Take some cinnamon powder and mix it with honey, and apply this mixture onto your face. This remedy will help treat dry skin.

5. Aloe Vera

All things related to skincare can be dealt with aloe vera. Get some aloe vera leaf from your kitchen garden and extract fresh gel, or use the market bought aloe gel. Apply it on your skin to help with dry and cracked feeling.

Also, shower with lukewarm water instead of hot water, and make it a point to use cold water on your face. Last but not the least, no matter what the season, keep yourself hydrated. Drink lots of water.
