ITC has responded to the #BoycottBingo trend by stating that “a completely false, erroneous and mischievous message is being posted/circulated” that the new advert is making fun of a late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

In the new ad featuring Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, he is seen at a house party when an elder person asks him what are his future plans. Soon, several others suggest ideal plans when Ranveer has a Bingo chip and then blabbers scientific terms like ‘photon’ and ‘paradox’ to shut down the relatives. He later declares that the only way to deal with such questions is by using a ‘mad angle’.

The fans of actor Sushant Singh Rajput took offence of this advertisemnt and said that the use of terms like ‘photon’, ‘aliens’ and ‘algorithms’ is a jibe at the late star and his love for science.

It clarified that recent Bingo advert was shot more than a year ago in October 2019. “It is being aired this year because of delay in the launch of Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said ITC Foods Spokesperson.

ITC claimed that such erroneous messages are knowingly spreading falsehoods about the company, and appealed “to not fall prey to such mischievous posts.”
