Agartala: In demand of immediate employment opportunity, a group of trained multi-purpose workers (MPW) and Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) trained candidates on Thursday marched to the secretariat to meet with the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who also holds the health portfolio.
According to the candidates, the health department has 791 vacant posts for MPWs. However, the state has initiated the recruitment process for only 47 MPW posts.
However, they could not meet the Chief Minister as he was busy with other important work.

Speaking with reporters, Paritosh Das, one among the MPW jobseekers said, “We have completed the MPW training. Accordingly, we met with Dr Radha Debbarma, director of the department of family welfare and preventive medicine in anticipation of the job. However, she informed that only 47 MPW posts were approved by the finance department.”
He also said that on September 21, 2017, advertisement for 791 MPW vacant posts was issued and interview for the same was completed. However, the Tripura government later canceled the interview. No new MPW has been recruited since then.

“The department of family welfare and preventive medicine had recently advertised for the recruitment of 47 MPWs, following which a delegation of jobseekers met the director and an application was made for appointment to 691 posts. However, there was no response from the authorities”, Das said.
He also claimed that the recruitment process for 791 vacancies was started and the Tripura government had stopped it midway.
“It is clear that it is possible to recruit 791 MPWs. But, now the process has started to recruit only 47 MPWs. We have objections in this decision. Therefore, today (Thursday) we have come to the Secretariat to meet the health minister, who is also the chief minister in this regard”, Das added.
