Agartala: The Tripura government has appointed VS Yadav as the new director-general of police, almost 10 months after the retirement of AK Shukla in January 31 last.
According to reports, the state’s first choice was Amitabha Ranjan, 1988 Tripura cadre IPS, who was not released by the ministry of home affairs following which the process got delayed.
During this period, Rajiv Singh, additional director general (law and order) was in-charge of police chief’s office.
In the interest of public service, the governor in consultation with the union public service commission is pleased to appoint VS Yadav, IPS (TR:1987) to the post of the Director General of Police (HoPF), Government of Tripura…”, a notification undersigned by Md H Rahman, Under Secretary government of Tripura informed.
In October, the state government had received a panel of three top and experienced IPS police officers from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the post of the Director-General of the Police.
The three senior IPS officer including VS Yadav, a 1987 batch IPS, presently principal secretary of OBC welfare department, Anurag Dhyankar IG, BPR&D, MHA, New Delhi and Rajiv Singh, who is currently holding the post of DGP in-charge was received by the state.
