Agartala: The Tripura cabinet has approved the appointment of 3,970 teachers in the state of which 1,675 will be recruited in the last week of December or the beginning o January. Some candidates have cleared the teacher eligibility test (TET) examination and are on the waiting list, said education minister Ratan Lal Nath informed the reporters.
Speaking in a press conference at the civil secretariat, Nath said that an emergency meeting of the state cabinet was held on Tuesday, in which approval for the appointment of 3,970 teachers on the proposal of the education department was given.
“There are 65 postgraduate teachers’ posts for class XI and XII, 175 postgraduate teachers for class IX and X, 2,055 postgraduate teachers for class VI to VIII and 1,675 teachers for class I to V. We will send proposals to Teachers’ Recruitment Board Tripura (TRBT) for the appointment of the teachers in this month,” Nath said.
He also said that 1,675 TET qualified candidates, including 650 undergraduates and 1,025 undergraduate teachers with a one-time exemption are on the waiting list and the state government is planning to send their offer letter shortly.
“We will send the offer letters to all the 1,675 candidates in the last week of December or January. TRBT have been asked to prepare the list of TET, STGT and STPGT tests,” Nath said.
The education minister further said that since the change in government in Tripura, 1,824 teachers have been appointed in the state. Besides, 33 undergraduates and 69 undergraduate teachers have been posted this week. He added, “Offer letters have been sent to 42 graduates and 15 undergraduates candidates by the education department.”
