The shelter which is run on donations is managed by Mr. Utpal and Ms. Monica
47 Assam R&V Sqn NCC as part of its social service drive organized a social service activity of providing essential items for the use of the senior inmates of Mother Old Age Home in Guwahati on Thursday.


Located at Sijubari Mazar Road, Dargah Road, Sijubari Hatigaon, the old age home was established in 2011. This institution is doing significant service in providing a home to about 68 shelter less senior citizens mostly ladies abandoned by society.

Managed by Mr. Utpal and Ms. Monica, the shelter is run on donations provided by the society. With these donations, the duo is able to provide a homely atmosphere filled with care and comfort


Along with providing essential items the 47 Assam R&V Sqn NCC also wanted to sensitise the young NCC Cadets on the importance of taking care of their elders. This according to them will help the cadets in becoming worthy citizens when they grow up


Col Shomir Bhatnagar, Commanding Officer, 47 Assam R&V Sqn NCC described the event as an emotional one. Commanding officer Col Bhatnagar hoped that this noble service will bring smiles to the inmates on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.


After ascertaining the requirements, the unit procured items of utility viz TV, ceiling fans, LED bulbs, BP Machine, Steel Utensils, Medicines, etc. The same was then handed over by Brig Jogesh Talukdar, GP Cdr, NCC Group HQ Guwahati to the shelter.
