A young Delhi Capitals side will be eyeing their first ever IPL title as they take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the much awaited final of the Dream11 IPL 2020, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Mumbai Indians, eyeing their fifth title, have had a great campaign this season. After losing their first game against the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai went on to finish the league stages at the top of the points table winning 9 out of their 13 matches, and then went straight into the finals after beating Delhi Capitals comprehensively in the Qualifier 1 on November 5.

The Delhi Capitals took a slightly different route to the finals. They marched their way to 14 points, bagging 7 wins from their first 9 games. But then they lost 4 successive games. However, they returned to winning ways in their last league-stage game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to finish second on the points table to set up a clash against MI in the Qualifier 1, which they lost. Delhi Capitals then went on to beat the Sunrisers Hyderbad handsomely in the Qualifier 2 on November 8 to set up their final clash against the Mumbai Indians
As Delhi Capitals take on a confident Mumbai Indians in pursuit of the title, we bring you some of the talking points going around ahead of this Final.
The batting attacks
Both the sides are packed with a heavy and an equally destructive bowling unit. The Mumbai Indians opening pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have shared 49 wickets between them this season, while for the Delhi Capitals Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have as well 49 wickets between them. Therefore, it will come down to the batting units, whose performance will play a decisive role in the Final.
And on the basis of the recent form, Mumbai Indians have a slightly upper hand as their batting line-up seems a bit stable, while the Delhi Capitals line-up has been heavily dependent on Shikhar Dhawan. However, the promotion of Marcus Stoinis garnering success, along with Shimron Hetmyer coming good down the order in the Qualifier 2, will give the Capitals a lot more confidence going into the finals.
Trent Boult’s fitness
As Mumbai Indians take on Delhi Capitals in the all important final on Tuesday, a massive concern surrounding them is the fitness of their spearhead Trent Boult. The Kiwi left-armer had suffered a groin injury in the Qualifier 1. Trent Boult delivered a double-wicket maiden over to start with, removing Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in the very first over. Boult registered figures of 9/2 in his 2 overs – but was seen leaving the field afterwards, and never returned during the game. Even in the presentation ceremony, Jasprit Bumrah was seen accepting an award on his behalf.
Now it will be a big blow for the Mumbai Indians if Trent Boult does not manage to make it to the playing XI of the finals
