Deciding to bat first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals got off to an absolute flying start. The openers Shikhar Dhawan and newly promoted Marcus Stoinis added 86 runs for the first wicket in just 50 balls. It was the Sunrisers’ star bowler Rashid Khan providing with the much needed breakthrough as he dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 38 off 27 in the ninth over.

Shikhar Dhawan continuing his excellent form in the season played a very well-compiled knock of 78 off 50 before he was dismissed by Sandeep Sharma in the 19th over. Shikhar en-route his 78 brought up 600 runs in this season of IPL.

An exquisite knock of unbeaten 42 of just 22 deliveries towards the later part of the innings helped Delhi to post a very competitive total of 189/3 at the end of their 20 overs.

Coming out to chase a pretty big total, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a scare early on, as they lost their in-form skipper David Warner in the second over with a swinging delivery from Kagiso Rabada crashing into the stumps of the SRH skipper.

Marcus Stoinis coming to bowl his first over in the fifth over of the innings, picked dismissed Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey in the same over reducing Sunrisers to serious spot of bother with 44/3 on the board.

Kane Williamson and Jason Holder tried to do some repair work for the Sunrisers with a 46-run-partnership off 41 balls for the fourth wicket, but just as Holder was looking to be the aggressor, he was dismissed by Axar Patel in the 12th over.
A brisk partnership of 57 runs off 31 balls for the fifth wicket between Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad restored the hopes for Sunrisers, but it was Marcus Stoinis once again providing with the breakthrough, as he got the big wicket of Kane Williamson in the 17th over.
Kane Williamson played a beautiful knock of 67 off 45 as he brought up his second half-century in back-to-back matches.

A quickfire knock of 33 off just 16 balls from Abdul Samad brought Sunrisers right back into the game, before Kagiso Rabada got the better of him in the 19th over.
Kagiso Rabada put the nails in the coffin for the Sunrisers as he picked up three wickets in the 19th over, thus leaving SRH needing 22 runs off the last over, which the Sunrisers eventually fell short by 17 runs.
