In the latest chapter regarding the ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ case, the Delhi Police has booked YouTuber Gaurav Wasan for allegedly cheating and misappropriating funds received as a donation and have launched a probe into these allegations.
Gaurav Wasan has been booked under IPC section 420, by the Delhi Police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur stated. After they received a complaint, they did a preliminary inquiry following which an FIR was registered under Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of Indian Penal Code. An investigation has also been initiated.
The case was registered against the YouTuber following a complaint lodged on October 31 by Kanta Prasad, who runs the ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ stall. In his complaint to police, Prasad alleged that Wasan had intentionally and deliberately shared only his and his family/friends’ bank account details and mobile numbers with the donors and collected a huge amount of donation without providing him with any information.
Earlier this month, Thakur, DC of Police (Delhi South), had said, ‘We received the complaint yesterday at the Malviya Nagar Police Station and the matter is being probed. No FIR has been registered yet in the case.’
After the video went viral, celebrities and netizens showed immense support for Prasad and his wife, and help poured in for the couple. Within hours #Babakadhaba went trending on Twitter and other social media platforms with the food joint getting flooded with more customers than it had ever seen in the 30 years of its business.
However, the social media influencer Wasan has refuted to all the allegations against him and produced bank statements to prove the transactions made to the bank account of Kanta Prasad.
