Agartala: Tripura has tremendous potential in agriculture, and the future of the state is bright in agriculture, so Israel wants to be a partner in that success, said Dr Ron Malka Israeli, ambassador to India, during his interview with the media.
Malka, who is on a Northeast visit, earlier visited Meghalaya and Assam before arriving here in Tripura on Wednesday. He met with the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and discussed possibilities of collaboration in various sectors.
“India and Israel are running a lot of projects in this country together and those projects are being implemented successfully. So far, Israel has opened 29 Centers of Excellence in India. We are also looking forward to opening another Center of Excellence in Tripura soon,” Malka said.
Speaking further, he said that Israel is very interested in working with India because India is at the top of the list of developing countries.
“The exchange of technology and experience will ensure doubling the income of farmers in this country. Agriculture is the backbone of any country’s economy. As a result, the emphasis must be on agriculture,” Malka added.
He also asserted that efforts would be made to increase the presence of Israel in the Northeast. He hoped that the region would be more prosperous, adding, “Israel has set up 29 centres of excellence in India. Those centres are working successfully. Israel has trained 147,000 farmers”.
Dr Malka assured that Israel would launch a Center of Excellence in Tripura because the state has ample potential for prosperity. Thus, technology and experience in agriculture will be shared with Tripura as Israel wants to be a partner with the success of Tripura, he said.
