Left out of the Indian team just two days ago, Suryakumar Yadav, scoring his highest IPL score, single handedly took the Mumbai Indians to a comprehesive 5-wicket victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Put into bat first after winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a rollicking start as their openers Josh Philipe and Devdutt Padikkal added 71 runs for the 1st wicket in just 47 balls.

It was in the eight over when Josh Philipe was dismissed for 33, courtesy a quick stumping by Quinton de Kock off Rahul Cahar’s bowling, that brought about a dramatic collapse in the RCB batting line up.

After being 71/0 at 7.4 overs, RCB eventually posted just 164/6 at the end of their 20 overs, with RCB managing just 93 runs in their last 13 overs losing 6 wickets, courtesy a stunning bowling spell from Jasprit Bumrah, who en-route his 100th IPL wicket picked up 3 wickets giving away just 14 runs in his four overs.

It was a young Devdutt Padikkal who was once again impressive for the Royal Challengers, who inspite of losing partners in a cluster at the other end kept his calm and played a classy knock of 74 off just 45 balls.

Coming out to chase a pretty modest total, Mumbai Indians got a pretty decent start. They lost Quinton de Kock early off Mohammed Siraj but still managed to reach 45/1 at the end of the powerplay. But they lost a set Ishan Kishan for 25 just after the powerplay to Yuzvendra Chahal in his very first over, leaving Mumbai in a slight spot of bother with two men at the crease and 52/2 after eight overs.
