Nagaland deputy CM Y Patton addressing the election campaign at Pungro local ground

Kiphire: Nagaland deputy chief minister and BJP legislator Yanthungo Patton alerted on certain election propagandas that cause rumour-mongering, leading to confusion among people.

Addressing an election rally at Pungro local ground while campaigning for People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate Lirimong Sangtam, Patton said that never in the history, a running government has lost a by-election in Nagaland.

However, with the election mode on, he said that there will be maximum rumours to confuse the people. He alerted the people not be carried away by such election propagandas and encouraged them to stand firm to seize opportunities and seek for development in the 60 Pungro-Kiphire constituency by supporting its BJP candidate.

“This is a by-election, it is a matter of hardly two years term now and the present PDA Govt which is a coalition of BJP, NDPP and Independent has enough members to run the affairs of the government to complete the remaining term comfortably. Therefore the present Nagaland government is manned by a dedicated and committed leader and that people of this constituency should not take a wrong decision, but to ensure winning of the Consensus BJP candidate to further strengthen the present PDA Govt”, Patton told the gathering.

He also said that while former MLA Torechu has done many good things for the people during his tenure in the government, many things have been left unfinished due to his untimely demise.

Patton added that the PDA nominated Lirimong Sangtam as its consensus candidate for the forthcoming by-election to enable him to carry the legacy and continue the services to the people.
