Imphal: Massive landslide occurred along the National Highway 2, due to incessant downpour in the past few days, have completely cut-off the lifeline of the state of Manipur.
As per reports, the Imphal-Dimapur road remains inaccessible after a large section of the national highway swept away by a mudslide, measuring about 120 feet sank at Khongnem area between Lairouching and Karong in Senapati district on Friday.
One truck and two excavators were also swept away when the highway sank, as per reports. However, no casualty was reported till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, as the repairing works on the sunken portion are in progress which may take some days to complete, people have been advised against travelling along the NH2.
It may take some time to repair the road since the hill has to be cut in order to repair the damaged highway, as per the locals.
Left with no option, locals were seen crossing the highway from the remaining narrow path amid the heavy downpour while risking life.
