With the new Apple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 pro available for pre-orders in India, one of the key questions that is on everyone’s mind is “Should I upgrade to the iPhone 12?”

The pre-orders are now open on Apple India online store as well as across the company’s offline and online retail partners in the country. Both the new iPhone models were unveiled alongside the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max just last week.

This is supposedly the best iPhone Apple has brought to markets till now with an appreciable redesign that feels comfortable to hold, and is faster, with a chipper processor and a camera which performs exceptionally in low light. Last year’s launch, the 11 and 11 Pro have larger screens with three camera lenses, a more modern A13 “Bionic” chip captures pretty good photos in low light.

However, Apple is planning to launch two new variants of iPhones in November and one of the new models, the Pro Max, promises to be a joy in the hands of photographers. With a larger image sensor and bigger pixels than the 12 Pro, but will cost slightly higher. It will feature a larger telephoto lens at 65mm in comparison to 52mm on the 12 Pro.

Upon running a battery test by Tom’s Guide, it was found that iPhone 12 lasted for 8 hours and 25 minutes on AT&T’s 5G network, and 10 hours and 23 minutes on 4G. Meanwhile iPhone 12 Pro lasted 9 hours and six minutes on T-Mobile’s 5G, and 11 hours 24 minutes on 4G. However, other android phones like the OnePlus 8T, Google Pixel 5, and Samsung Galaxy S20 series all fared better than Apple’s newest release. Also after non-stop video viewing, the 11 Pro lasted 6 hours. Whereas, after 6 hours, the 12 Pro had 40% left to work with.

iPhone 12 and its smaller variant will be able to shoot Dolby Vision video in 4K at 30 frames per second. iPhone 12 Pro will provide Dolby Vision capture in 4K at 60 frames per second. This is due to the iPhone 12 Pro’s extra RAM since both smartphones use the A14 Bionic system-on-chip.

Dolby Vision will bring brighter colours and clarity, helpful in the video production process for viewing on smart TVs which has been incorporated by Apple to enhance the videos making experience on the new iPhones.

iPhone 12 price in India is priced at Rs 79,900 for the 64GB storage option, and its 128GB variant will cost Rs 84,900 and the high-end 256GB storage variant at Rs 94,900. And the iPhone 12 Pro price in India ranges from Rs 1,19,900 for the 128GB storage variant to the 256GB and 512GB storage options priced at Rs 1,29,900 and Rs 1,49,900.
