Kohima: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim- Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) group said that if any Naga political group agrees for a solution without the Naga flag and constitution, the deal will be a “sell out” and will considered as an act of “historical treachery”.
The group said that the Government of India (GoI) is desperately trying to “hoodwink” the Nagas on unresolved issues like the Naga flag and Constitution (Yehzabo) and Naga integration coaxing the Nagas that these “sensitive issues can be taken up through democratic political (pre-requisite parliamentary enactment) process after the Naga deal is signed”.
Through its bi-monthly news bulletin, NSCN-IM said that the Nagas should not be flattered again as there is “no historical support to give credence to this kind of unprepossessing proposal”. It added that the 16 Point Agreement on Naga integration is a reminder to the Nagas that “nothing will matter to India once the Naga solution is signed”.
The group also said that any “left over issues will never be allowed to come back to haunt the Government”. It pointed out the Clause in Point 13 of the 16 Point Agreement which mentioned “Left for future” in the matter of “contiguous Naga areas to join the new state of Nagaland”.
With the passage of time, as this clause was “soon forgotten” and remained only in the papers, the group said that the “flattery should not be allowed to repeat”.
Although Nagas are no longer “gullible enough” to believe an “outrageous” thing like this, the rebel group said that it is “disheartening that certain Naga political groups along with a few civil society organizations are pushing for Naga solution going down to their knees before the Government of India to accept whatever is vainly negotiated and offered san Naga flag and constitution”.
According to the group, “these groups” feigned indifference and have failed to summon logical defense against such entreaties with regard to the contentious issues, leaving it for future consideration.
It said that as Nagas “withstood the test of time” for over 70 years under the banner of the “Naga flag” and guided by the constitution, should be respected in both in letter and spirit, in order to deliver justice those who sacrificed their lives in defense of Naga’s political right and identity.
It is in this regard that the NSCN-IM said that if any Naga political groups go ahead for solution without the Naga flag and constitution, it will be seen as committing an “act of historical treachery”. As per the NSCN-IM, such a deal will be a ‘sell out’ and a mockery before the world.
The group reimpose its faith on Modi led BJP government to live up to the spirit of the framework agreement by honoring the Naga flag and constitution to “undo the past mistakes” saying that history will also honor premier for the “judicious decision”.
NSCN-IM concluded saying that Naga history taunt and not forgive those who “tamely submitted to the cajoling of RN Ravi on the non-negotiable issues of Naga flag and constitution on the pretext of following up the issues post signing of the solution through democratic process”.
