Virat Kohli reprimanded for behaviour Credit: BCCI/IPL

The Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore displayed a clinical effort as they beat the Kolkata Knight Riders with eight wickets and 39 balls to spare at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. In what was expected to be an even contest between the two sides, with RCB and KKR positioned at fourth position of the points table respectively, it turned out to be a completely one-sided match with the Knights being completely outplayed by the RCB.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, the Kolkata Knight Riders started off in the scariest manner ever losing their top three very early with the scoreboard reading 3/3, and they could never really recover from the early setback as they kept losing wickets with the run-rate struggling. The RCB bowlers were all over the KKR batsmen, with Mohammed Siraj registering his career best figures in IPL. Siraj picked up three crucial wickets giving away just eight runs in his four overs.

The KKR eventually managed to post a mere 84/8 at the end of their 20 overs. Skipper Eoin Morgan was the highest scorer for KKR with a 30 off 34 balls.

Coming out to chase a pretty easy total, it was almost a stroll in the park for RCB after thier openers did a decent job adding 46 runs for the first wicket. KKR’s previous match hero Lockie Fergusion caused a small scare in the RCB dugout as he picked up Aaron Finch in seventh over and then induced a run-out in the very same over, but then it was little too less for Lockie to defend.
