The foundation for India’s first Multi Modal Logistic Park (MMLP) at Jogighopa in Assam, will be laid today by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. This park will provide direct connectivity through air, road, rail and waterways to the people.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said, “Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari will virtually lay the foundation stone for the first-ever multi-modal logistic park in Assam tomorrow.”
This MMLP at Jogighopa of Bongaigaon is the first among 35 such projects and will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹694 crore. The development of this project has been entrusted to NHDCL under the ambitious Bharatmala Project of the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, GOI. Designed as a state of art facility, it is aimed to improve the logistic efficiency and facilitate the Domestic and Export- Import trade in the region. The land identified for this project is of 200 acres and will be transferred from Ashok Paper Mill to NHIDCl by signing an MoU.
The event will be presided over by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and will be attended by Union Ministers Jitendra Singh, V K Singh and officials from the Centre and State.
